The easiest way to book is via our online booking system. There you can check live availability, choose your trip, and receive instant confirmation.

All trips depart from Gairloch Harbour on Scotland’s north-west coast. See our contact page for directions.

Yes — we are located directly on the North Coast 500 route, making our trips a perfect stop while exploring this iconic scenic drive.

Trip durations vary depending on the experience you choose. Most scheduled trips last around 2 hours, and we also offer a shorter 1-hour adventure. Charter durations can be tailored to your requirements.

Puffin ONE can accommodate up to 12 passengers per trip. We have enough space for everyone to sit inside the cabin and additional seating outside.

Absolutely — we pride ourselves on being a family-friendly experience. Children are very welcome, and life jackets are provided. We offer a 20% reduction for children under 12 and under 2’s can come for free.

Yes — under 2’s can come for free.

For safety reasons, we carry a maximum of 12 passengers per trip, regardless of age. This means babies count as “a soul on board”, just like adults and children.

Please book your baby on using the “infant” option.

We often encounter a variety of wildlife including seabirds, seals, dolphins and more. However, as these are wild animals in their natural environment, sightings can never be guaranteed, though we’ll always do our best to spot wildlife along the way..

Your safety is our top priority.

Strong winds are the main reason for cancelling trips. If this happens, you’ll be offered an alternative date or a full refund.

We recommend:

  • Warm layers
  • Waterproof clothing
  • Flat, non-slip footwear

Even on sunny days it can feel cooler on the water.

Here are a few more helpful details to help you prepare for your trip.

Yes — we do.

Our boat is partially covered, with enough seating inside for everyone to sit comfortably. This means we can still operate in rain and you’ll stay dry on board.

We love our four-legged family members and can accommodate one dog per trip or two from the same family. We are working on adding this as an option on the bookings page but for now, please contact us directly to book your dog on a trip. Spaces are on a first-come, first-served basis.

We ask that dogs are kept on a lead and under your control at all times. For everyone’s comfort, dogs should be calm and happy around new people and the marine environment.

Yes: safety is extremely important to us.

Puffin ONE is fully licensed and equipped with all required safety equipment. Trips are skippered by a commercially endorsed and qualified skipper, and a full safety briefing is provided before departure.

Yes — we’re happy to assist guests with limited mobility to safely get down the ramp and onto the boat.

For safety and logistical reasons, we cannot take wheelchair-bound guests on board. However, if you are able to stand with assistance, we can provide plenty of help to make your trip comfortable and enjoyable.

Yes — please arrive around 20 minutes before departure so we can check you in and provide your safety briefing.

Yes: parking is available at the entrance to Gairloch Harbour and there is also limited parking up by the booking office.

Yes: there are great local options nearby. We recommend Coast Coffee for drinks and light bites, and The Old Inn for evening meals. The Shop at the Pier is our local grocery and convenience store.

Unfortunately not. However, there are public toilets at the harbour for your convenience.
